A charity Campaign for the music industry and its community.
Rock and roll is not just a genre of music. Rock and roll is a way of life. Symbolizing freedom, boldness, and fearlessness, rock and roll has changed the world, and is still changing our lives every day.
Rock and roll is an international language.
My name is Dana Distortion and I'm a music photographer based in Brooklyn. Like so many in my industry, COVID-19 has affected my life and work tremendously. Social distancing means no shows, and no shows means no work. Sitting in despair and waiting this out is just not an option or a solution. So as usual, I turned to rock and roll to help rescue my sanity.
In 2018 I launched my clothing brand, Distortion Unplugged, with its credo: ‘Rock and Roll You Can Wear.’ Operated by myself and artist/world-renowned tour manager Nora Shazlin, Distortion Unplugged is a super small and independent brand which is inspired by music and loyal fans.
"Rock 'n' roll might not solve your problems,
but it does let you dance all over them." -PETE TOWNSHEND
One of Distortion Unplugged's best-selling items—a black t-shirt with ‘Rock and Roll’ written in Hebrew letters—has inspired The Rock and Roll Project, which is an extension of this popular design. We’ve added 14 new designs, with each t-shirt featuring ‘Rock and Roll’ written in the non-Latin script languages of the world, in addition to the classic Latin alphabet design. From Japanese to Arabic, Hindi to Armenian, rock and roll sounds (and looks) good in any language!
100% profits from The Rock and Roll Project collection sales will be donated to MusiCares®
A friend and ally of the music community, MusiCares® was established by the Recording Academy to safeguard the health and well-being of all music people. “We're here to re-dedicate you to The Power, The Passion, The Mystery, and The Ministry of Rock and roll." -BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN
The Rock and Roll Project collection will be sold on the Distortion Unplugged online store, and will be featured in a wide-ranging social media campaign. This campaign includes a new blog documenting the stories of inspiring humans throughout the music industry, from the most famous to those who work behind the scenes. Those featured will wear a shirt of their choice from the collection. From booking agents to musicians, stage hands to journalists, guitar techs to video personalities, we're determined to spread some love and bring hope back into our lives while we wait for music to return to the stage.
